Financial media, built for people who read before they act.
We are an independent publisher covering markets, investment platforms and personal-finance literacy. We explain how the financial world works — we don't manage money, take custody of assets, or sell trading services.
Started as a newsletter, grown into a reference desk
Smartbroker AG began as a weekly newsletter explaining stock-market basics to friends who kept asking the same questions about brokerage fees, order types and fund structures. We turned those answers into structured guides, then added an editorial desk to track platforms, regulation and market events as they happened.
Today the site is maintained by a small team of writers, former analysts and a compliance reviewer, all based in or working closely with our Berlin office. We keep the operation intentionally narrow: publishing and explaining, not brokering or advising.
Principles behind every article
Independence
We accept no payment from brokerages, exchanges or fund managers in exchange for coverage. Any commercial relationship is disclosed in full at the top of the relevant article.
Clarity over jargon
If a concept can be explained in plain language, we explain it that way first, and introduce technical terminology only once the underlying idea is clear.
Accountability
Every published piece carries a byline, a publish date, and a visible correction if we get something wrong. We keep a public changelog of material edits.
The people behind the desk
A small, senior team spanning editorial, research and compliance.
Markus Feldmann
Editor-in-ChiefFifteen years covering European equity markets before founding Smartbroker AG's editorial desk in 2016.

Not a brokerage, exchange or advisory firm
Smartbroker AG publishes information and analysis only. We do not hold client funds, open trading accounts, or offer any paid investment service. References to instruments, indices or platforms are illustrative and educational, never a recommendation to buy or sell.
